New arrivals in Reception

This week we have welcomed some fluffy new arrivals into our reception classes.

We are delighted to say our eggs have been hatching, and the children have welcomed eight chicks into the classroom. The children have been fascinated watching the eggs hatch, from the initial pecking a small hole, to the egg cracking and the chick emerging from the egg. The children have been able to handle the chicks carefully and learn about the things they need to care for them and help them grow. They have also been learning about lifecycles.

Please note that afterwards, these chicks will be taken home and reared by a member of staff who has chickens at home. In fact, the eggs we hatched this year are a result of the chicks we hatched in school last year.
